A Dog for Maggie

Illustration, Layout

This book was a passion project for me. My late sister, Emily Henry Mackin, wrote this novel during treatment for a brain tumor that ultimately ended her life. Emily was the valedictorian of her high school and a National Merit Scholar from Spring Hill College where she majored in English and Theology. My family and I self-published this novel. The story is about a young accountant in Mississippi whose life suddenly gets spun into a web of crime, romance, and murder when she encounters a stray dog on an evening walk. The cover shows this pivotal meeting with storefronts of a small Mississippi town in the background—inspired by Columbus, MS, which is where Emily and I grew up.
